Poem About Nidderdale Kite Festival 2012

Everywhere kites can be seen;

Floating upwards, in the sky;
Red blue yellow, pink & green,
Orange, purple, soaring high!

Magical sounds, kites and wind,
Breathtaking kites big and small;
Snakes, a tiger, cat and a crab,
The cuttlefish favourite of all!

Kids flying kites with beaming smiles,
Laughing and shouting painted faces;
Avid maze walkers of all ages,
Being gently put through their paces!

Girls gathered round the tombola,
A sparkly doll the top prize;
The happy little girl who won it,
As high as a kite in the skies!

Bouncy castle, lots of fresh air,
Car boot stall bargains galore;
Tattoos and plastic bling were a hit,
The kids all shouting for more!

Friendly folk, bouncing tunes,
The loo even well worth a visit;
Surprisingly airy, and pleasant,
At festivals it never is, is it?!

Cloudy parasols kept us cool,
Warm wind carried the sun;
A smiling Scout made us a kite,
Flying it was loads of fun!

Refuelled with lovely healthy dahl,
And sausages in a bun;
Were happy and nicely weary,
By the time the day was done!

A great time was had by all,
Partying into the night;
‘Til finally on Sunday,
A rain cloud won the fight!

To everyone who helped,
A great big Thank You to you!
Heather, Martin, Graham, Neil,
John, Cat, The Army too!

Fred for the use of his land,
And Stina, Roddy’s Mum;
We made the Roddy Scott foundation,
A nice and tidy sum!

Liane, Stego, Michael, Blake,
Howie the friendly host;
Everyone raise your drinks to all,
In a kite flying sort o’ toast!

The organisation was chaos,
Though a chilled harmonic team;
Everything, even the weather,
Came together like a dream!
