Well here we are at the wedding,
Of Simon my oldest best mate;
He's marrying the woman of his dreams,
A wonderful lady called Kate!

I was with him when he first set eyes on her,
One morning on a helicopter flight;
He spotted this vision hanging out washing,
And swooped in for a closer sight!

He said "There's the woman I'm going to marry",
Then we landed in a field close by;
He sheepishly sidled over to her,
Saying "How do you do, I'm Si"!

He asked her out on a romantic date,
Why she said yes is a mystery!
But she met him that night and they hit it off,
The rest, as they say, is history!

I was so sure that Si would never get married,
It's great to see them in domestic bliss;
But there 's just one thing I'm unhappy about,
Now he hardly ever comes out on the piss!

I remember when we were younger,
Given a choice between diy,
And going out on the lash with me,
It was "Hammers and screws, bye bye"!

But many do-it-yourself jobs later,
He's well under the thumb now is Si;
He prefers to be at home in his slippers,
Look at Kate and it's obvious why!

It's hard to believe she's married him,
When I know she's seen him at his worst;
They're absolutely perfect for each other,
But I so wish that I had seen her first!
